Move Out Information
Notice Received!
30 days of your Lease End Date
We do recommend taking a look at the lease on your online tenant portal. All Residents are required to give at least 30 days notice from the end of their lease agreement.
Communication is key
We do send emails leading up to your renewal, to make sure that you had plenty of notice to put together a plan.
Unfortunately, if we did not receive your notice until you were within 30 days of your anticipated move-out date, we will have to add an additional month to cover the late notice. As written in your lease, we do need at least 30 days notice prior to the expiration of your lease to notify us of a non-renewal. This notice just be received as of the FIRST of the month. After the first of the month, the notice is accepted as of the first of the following month.
- For instance, if you submit notice of non-renewal on January 15th for a lease ending January 30th, we will not let the lease roll over for another year, buy that notice will be accepted as of 2/1, and you will also have to pay rent for the entire following month.
- We are also not able to prorate rent for departing Residents. If you intend to move out mid-month, you will have to arrange to pay for that entire month.
As a result, we are able to accept your notice effective as outlined in your lease. Rent will be due for that following month.
We recognize that this is an additional month of rent, so you can choose to stay that month of your amended move-out date. We do not wish to be punitive, but we do have to ensure that the property owners receive a fair notice of at least 30 days prior to move out.
What do I do from here?
We recognize that this might be a bit of a curveball in your plans! Again, that's why we try to give you notice so soon!
Here are your options if you are giving notice within 30 days of the and of your lease agreement.
- Move out as planned, and pay for that additional month. (We can set up a payment plan to help!)
- Move out as planned, and if the property is in good shape and we can get the home rented quickly, we will refund you any overlapping rent after the new Resident moves in.
- Stay for an Additional Month and move out once you've honored the lease agreement.
- Find someone to take over your lease agreement. Ask for details if this is something you are interested in!
